--3B Bill Hall was back in the starting lineup Sunday after sitting out in favor of INF Craig Counsell the previous evening. Counsell ignited a six-run eighth-inning rally with a home run Saturday night against Chicago and boosted his batting average to .340 with a .435 on-base percentage. Manager Ken Macha said Counsell is forcing his way into the lineup with his production.
--LF Ryan Braun has been tearing apart left-handed pitching. Entering play Sunday, the right-handed-hitting Braun was batting .619 (13-for-21) against lefties, the top mark in the major leagues. He was batting .282 against right-handers. --2B Rickie Weeks hit the 12th leadoff homer of his career Sunday when he opened the bottom of the first with a shot to left off Chicago LHP Sean Marshall. It was the seventh homer of the season for Weeks, who hit only eight in the entire first half in 2008.
