--C Mike Rivera is making progress as he recovers from a sprained left ankle. The back-up catcher to C Jason Kendall is eligible to come off the disabled list next Thursday but has to show he can run without limitations first.
--1B Prince Fielder is on pace to draw 140 walks this season, which would obliterate the club record of 99 established by OF Jeromy Burnitz in 2000. Manager Ken Macha and hitting coach Dale Sveum have encouraged Fielder -- the only left-handed hitter in the regular lineup -- to take his walks if pitchers are working around him. --SS J.J. Hardy cracked his fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning Friday off Cubs RHP Angel Guzman to give him 17 RBIs -- most among NL shortstops. Ten of those RBI have come in Hardy's last five games as he finally broke out of a season-long hitting slump.
