--SS J.J. Hardy was back in the lineup Friday after sitting out Wednesday with back stiffness before a scheduled day off Thursday. Hardy said his back still ached on Thursday and he didn't think he'd be able to play in the series opener in New York but he woke up Friday feeling much better.

--RHP David Riske, placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday with tightness in his right elbow, will go to Los Angeles to get a second opinion from sports orthopedist Lewis Yocum. Riske had a bone spur removed from the elbow last September.

--RHP Todd Coffey had to pitch out of a couple of late-inning jams Friday night against the Mets to preserve his scoreless streak with the Brewers. Coffey pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and now has pitched scoreless ball in 15 appearances covering 14 1/3 innings since joining the Brewers last September.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP David Riske (right elbow tightness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 10.

RHP Trevor Hoffman (right oblique strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He threw off a mound for the first time since mid-March on April 15, and he will throw another bullpen session April 18.
