--RHP David Riske was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 10, with tightness in his right elbow. Riske, who had elbow surgery last September, had appeared in only one game, April 9 in San Francisco. In that game, he allowed four hits and two runs in one inning. Riske was brought along slowly in camp but never found a groove, compiling an 8.25 ERA in 11 outings.

--LHP R.J. Swindle was called up from Class AAA Nashville to replace RHP David Riske on the Brewers' roster. Swindle, a side-arm specialist, made three appearances with Nashville, allowing two hits and no runs while logging 10 strikeouts in six innings. Swindle was signed out of Philadelphia's organization over the winter.

--RHP Trevor Hoffman, on the comeback trail from an oblique strain suffered in spring training, will throw off the mound for a second time Saturday in New York. If Hoffman fares well in that session, he will move forward and pitch either in simulated action or in a minor league rehab assignment.
