--SS J.J. Hardy was scratched from the lineup Wednesday night just before game time with what was described as "mid-back stiffness." Hardy was replaced in the lineup by INF Craig Counsell, who moved into the second spot in the batting order, with RF Corey Hart dropping from second to fifth.

--RHP Trevor Hoffman (oblique strain) threw off the mound for the first time since mid-March and reported no problems. Hoffman will throw another bullpen session in New York on Saturday before a game against the Mets. If that goes well, he will either throw in a simulated game or a minor league rehab assignment as his next step.

--CF Mike Cameron homered in consecutive at-bats Wednesday night against Cincinnati RHP Micah Owings. It was the 14th multi-homer game for Cameron during his career, the previous one coming on May 4 of last season against Houston. Cameron reached base in all four plate appearances, adding a walk and an RBI double. He is off to a strong start with a .370 batting average and three homers through nine games.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Trevor Hoffman (right oblique strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He threw off a mound for the first time since mid-March on April 15, and he will throw another bullpen session April 18.
