--2B Rickie Weeks was out of the lineup Tuesday, one night after being struck on the jaw by a pitch while attempting a bunt. But manager Ken Macha already had planned to give Weeks the night off because he was 1-for-20 for his career against Cincinnati RHP Bronson Arroyo. Weeks pinch-hit in the seventh inning and grounded into a double play.

--LF Ryan Braun, who had trouble with an intercostal strain during spring training, had only two hits in 18 at-bats through the first five games of the Brewers' six-game homestand. But manager Ken Macha said he checked with Braun, who told him he was not hurting physically.

--SS J.J. Hardy was hitting in tough luck during the first week of the season but has turned on the power with home runs in consecutive games Monday and Tuesday. Hardy also drove in at least one run in four consecutive games to take over the team lead with six RBIs.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Trevor Hoffman (right oblique strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He hopes to return before the end of April.
