MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Ben Sheets (torn muscle near right elbow) was diagnosed after he returned to start Sept. 27 but was ineffective. He is done for the season. RHP Yovani Gallardo (torn right ACL) went on the 15-day disabled list May 2. He had surgery May 13. He was activated Sept. 23, and he started Sept. 25. He then started the playoff opener.
OF Gabe Kapler (torn muscle behind right shoulder) left the Sept. 10 game and hasn't played since. He is not on the roster for the NL Division Series.
RHP David Riske (bone spur in right elbow) was shut down for the season Sept. 16. He had surgery Sept. 23.
LHP Chris Capuano (torn elbow ligament) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on Sept. 1. He tried to avoid a second reconstructive surgery with a month of physical rehab, but he still experienced discomfort in his elbow. He had season-ending Tommy John surgery May 15.
