--2B Ray Durham was still bothered by a strained right shoulder suffered swinging at a pitch Tuesday night. Durham did not take pregame batting practice and did not appear in the game Wednesday in St. Louis. --RHP Eric Gagne left the club in the afternoon when his wife went into labor in Scottsdale, Ariz. With Gagne unavailable, manager Ned Yost went to RHP David Riske in the eighth inning with a 3-1 lead. St. Louis rallied for four runs and won the game 5-3.
--LF Ryan Braun went hitless Wednesday night for only the second of 13 games he played against St. Louis this season. Braun batted .459 against the Cardinals with seven home runs and 13 RBIs.
--The Brewers finished with a 10-5 record against St. Louis, only their second season triumph over the Cardinals since moving to the NL in 1998.
