--RHP Carlos Villanueva, who pitched his way out of the starting rotation with a series of bad starts (2-5, 6.43), appears to be getting his act together in the bullpen. In three relief outings, Villanueva has pitched five scoreless innings.
--2B Rickie Weeks has been failing in his mission as a lead-off hitter to get on base on the Brewers' home stand. Over the first four games, he is two for 15, dropping his overall average to .201. --CF Mike Cameron hit a home run in his first at-bat Friday but struck out in his other three at-bats, continuing his alarming strikeout rate. Cameron has struck out 10 times in his last four games and has whiffed 38 times in 117 at-bats.
--LHP Manny Parra has been a different pitcher, home and away. He is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in six starts at home and 1-2 with a 6.95 ERA in five starts on the road.
--1B Prince Fielder's home-run Friday night of Houston RHP Brandon Backe was his first since May 18 off Boston's Josh Beckett. Fielder, who became the youngest player (23) in big-league history to swat 50 home runs last year, has just seven homers this season.
BY THE NUMBERS: 30 -- Road games played by the Brewers, most in the major leagues through May 25.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We just need to win games. That's the main thing. We've had a tough month. You can do one of two things when you're in a rut -- sink or swim. We have too much talent to sink." -- Catcher Jason Kendall.
