
--SS J.J. Hardy entered Tuesday's game at Pittsburgh with only two hits in 25 at-bats (.080) with runners in scoring position. He improved those numbers considerably by going 3-for-3, all with runners in scoring position, and driving in four runs. Hardy boosted his batting average from .167 to .195.
--RF Corey Hart stole the Brewers' first base since April 28 when he swiped second in the sixth inning Tuesday at Pittsburgh. The Brewers have only nine steals, the second-lowest figure in the NL, in 17 attempts. --Brewers pitchers were having trouble keeping their walk totals down early in the season, but over their last eight games through Monday, they had issued only 14 walks while logging 68 strikeouts. Over that stretch, the club was 6-2.
BY THE NUMBERS: 2 -- Starts in the No. 3 spot in the batting order for 2B Rickie Weeks, who assumed the role Sunday versus Arizona. Weeks had not batted third since the 2005 season.
