--SS J.J. Hardy, removed from the starting lineup Wednesday with mid-back stiffness, is expected to be back Friday in New York when the Brewers open a three-game series against the Mets. The Brewers were off Thursday, and Hardy said that extra rest would be all he needed.
--RHP Mark DiFelice, primarily a starting pitcher the last few years in the minors, has found a new home in the Brewers bullpen. DiFelice has made five appearances and allowed just one run in seven innings (1.29 ERA). Manager Ken Macha likes that DiFelice throws strikes. His only two walks were issued intentionally. --RHP Jeff Suppan's next start has been pushed back from Friday to Sunday in New York. Suppan is off to an awful start (0-2, 12.91 ERA), and manager Ken Macha said the extra days would allow him to throw another bullpen session and hopefully sharpen up his command.
BY THE NUMBERS: 0 -- Runs allowed by RHP Todd Coffey in 13 appearances since the Brewers claimed him off waivers from Cincinnati last September.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't like doing this, but if you sit back and take a look at our April schedule and into early May, it's a pretty difficult schedule. We've got a tough row to hoe." -- Milwaukee manager Ken Macha.
