--RHP Braden Looper issued only one walk in six innings Wednesday night against Cincinnati, which manager Ken Macha said set the tone. It was the only walk surrendered in the game by the Brewers' pitching staff, which had a league-leading total of 42 walks entering the game.
--Bench coach Willie Randolph was scheduled to travel to New York ahead of the team Thursday morning to participate in the pregame ceremonies for the first regular-season game at new Yankee Stadium. Randolph also participated in ceremonies at the last game at old Yankee Stadium, making a memorable entrance by sliding into second base. "I had a flashback and said, 'I've just got to do it,'" Randolph recalled. --RHP Jeff Suppan's next start has been pushed back from Friday to Sunday in New York. Suppan is off to an awful start (0-2, 12.91 ERA), and manager Ken Macha said the extra days would allow him to throw another bullpen session and hopefully sharpen up his command.
BY THE NUMBERS: 0 -- Runs allowed by RHP Todd Coffey in 13 appearances since the Brewers claimed him off waivers from Cincinnati last September.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't like doing this, but if you sit back and take a look at our April schedule and into early May, it's a pretty difficult schedule. We've got a tough row to hoe." -- Milwaukee manager Ken Macha.
