--3B Bill Hall, who missed the first two weeks of exhibition play while recovering from a calf injury, was cleared to return to action with three weeks remaining in camp. Hall said he would have plenty of time to get himself in game shape before the season begins.
--2B Rickie Weeks was getting more at-bats in exhibition action than regulars normally get during the first half of the spring, but that was by design. Hitting coach Dale Sveum has been working on some changes in Weeks' hitting mechanics, and it's easier to gauge how they're working by getting as many at-bats as possible.
--RHP Trevor Hoffman made only three appearances in the Brewers' first 13 exhibition games, but that's the way Hoffman wanted it. Manager Ken Macha noted that the all-time saves leader has been pitching for 17 years in the majors. "He knows what he needs to get ready," Macha said. "I go off of him."
BY THE NUMBERS: 2 -- Homers for 1B Prince Fielder in two games after going his first nine exhibition games without one.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm really glad the Brewers made it to the playoffs and to some extent put that '82 team behind them. They've got their own legacy now." -- Ted Simmons, who caught for the 1982 Brewers but was dismissed as bench coach near the end of last season when manager Ned Yost was fired. Simmons is now San Diego's bench coach.
