Milwaukee Brewers Notes, Quotes 2008-09-29
--C Jason Kendall started the final 34 games of the season, hitting .233 in that stretch (27-for-116). Kendall set a club record by starting 149 games behind the plate, by far the most in the major leagues.

--RHP Ben Sheets made it through only 2 1/3 innings Saturday while trying to pitch through discomfort in his right elbow. Sheets sat out nine days with the ailing elbow and hoped to get through at least five innings but lost both command and velocity while allowing the Cubs five hits, two walks and four runs (three earned). He is not expected to be available in the NL Division Series against Philadelphia.

--1B Prince Fielder had his 17-game hitting streak snapped Sunday when he went 0-for-3. He batted .409 (27-for-66) during the streak with six homers and 19 RBIs.

--LHP CC Sabathia pitched 10 complete games in 2008, including seven in 17 starts after being traded from Cleveland to Milwaukee. He posted 25 quality starts for the season.

--The Brewers (90-72) finished with at least 90 victories for just the sixth time in franchise history. Their last 90-victory season came in 1992 (92-70).

BY THE NUMBERS: 197 -- Home runs for the Brewers through Friday night, leaving them three short of the fifth 200-homer season in franchise history.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's good to be a Brewer right now." -- RHP Seth McClung, after the Brewers took a one-game lead in the NL wild card race Friday night with a 5-1 victory over Chicago.
