
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, who had a league-leading 12 RBIs last week, has been named National League Player of the Week for the period ending May 10.
In seven games last week, Braun hit .458 (11-for-24) and scored eight runs. The 25-year-old, who also had three home runs and three doubles, posted a .958 slugging percentage to go with a .567 on-base percentage. He had four multi-hit games. Braun, hitting .345 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs, connected for the second grand slam of his career and had a career-high six RBI Wednesday at Cincinnati. Ryan's two-run homer in the eighth inning against the Chicago Cubs Friday rallied the Brewers for a 3-2 win. On Saturday against Chicago, he reached base five times.
Milwaukee shortstop J.J. Hardy, who snapped out of a funk to hit .360 with two home runs and 10 RBIs, was also nominated for the honor.
