ONE-HIT WONDERS
Adele, welcome to the Grammy world of best new artist. You've joined a group that includes Debby Boone, the Starland Vocal Band and Milli Vanilli. Of course, also on the list are the Beatles, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Alicia Keys. Predicting future success isn't always easy. Here are a few rookies of the year from the sports world who prove the point: Dennis Shaw, Buffalo Bills, 1970
The quarterback threw 10 touchdowns in his rookie season. His 20 interceptions, though, were a sign of trouble ahead: Career totals, 35 TDs, 68 INTs.
Don Woods, San Diego Chargers, 1974
He rushed for 1,162 yards as a rookie. Injuries slowed him down, and his next best season ended up being 514 yards.
Butch Metzger, San Diego Padres, 1976
He was 11-4 as a rookie. He'd win another seven games in his career.
Pat Listach, Milwaukee Brewers , 1992
It's hard to knock Listach, who came out of nowhere to help the Brewers to a winning season as a rookie, when he stole 54 bases and batted .290. His career average wound up at .251.
